Radio France is a public limited company owned by the French State. It was created on the 1st January 1975, and manages the public radio stations in metropolitan France.

Radio France International, generally designated by its acronym RFI , is a French public radio station with international distribution. It broadcasts in French and in 13 foreign languages on short and medium waves, in FM, on cable, satellite and on the Internet.

Its playlist is characterized by non-mainstream or underground artists of various music genres, such as electro, new wave, reggae, jazz, hip hop and world music.
