Clause - Zin

A sentence is anything between a capital letter and a full stop. A clause can be equal to a sentence, but does not need to be – one sentence can consist of multiple clauses. A clause HAS to consist of one subject with one finite verb and may include objects, adverbs, and non-finite verbs.

In the examples of single clauses below, the subject is underlined and the finite verb is in red:

Ik kom uit Rotterdam.
I am from Rotterdam.

In deze eetcafés kun je vaak voor weinig geld iets lekkers bestellen.
In these bars you can often order nice food for little money.
